Art (7-12)Art education is concerned with the organization of visual material, having individuals think and behave like artists, pointing out the values that surround the creation and cherishing of art forms, looking at ways in which people express their feelings in visual forms, and making and defending qualitative judgements about art.
Band (7-12)Developing a passion for music, the Band program at NDC has many programs including junior high marching band, steel pans, strings and ensemble. In class, students are given an opportunity to develop performance skills as well as theory and understanding of how music enhances learning.
Computer Programming (10-12)The Computer Programming courses at Notre Dame Collegiate arm students with an understanding of internet technologies that allow them to create interactive and engaging web content and internet applications using a variety of coding languages. The skills they learn in these courses will lead to working with the most recent trends in web application development. The coding skills they learn can be used in any circumstance that requires web development, be they in the business sector, corporate sector, non-profit sector, or even simply for personal use.
Construction (7-12)This course aims to familiarize students with a broad array of woodworking tools and techniques. Students will learn how to work safely in a shop setting before being given the opportunity to work hands-on and create a variety of functional and ornamental products.
Drama (7-12)Drama aims to develop empathy and a strong sense of self through live performance skills and connection with theatrical material from a variety of cultures, perspectives, and time periods. Students will explore all aspects of theatre from acting through to technical work.
Elite Athletics (Athletic Training 7-12)The overall goal of this course is to enhance student athletic performance. Major topics of study include; athletic (fitness) training, sport psychology, & nutrition. Students apply basic training and movement principles to health-related and performance-related components of fitness training. Students create fitness activities and develop a basic individual fitness plan to achieve goals for health-related and performance-related components.
Enhanced French (7-9)This program is designed to continue the second language learning of students who have been in an intensive or immersion program. It combines both oral and written language to support students in their further development of the French Language.
Food Studies (7-12)Food Studies introduces students to basic and more advanced cooking techniques. Through a combination of practical cooking labs and other learning experiences, students will broaden their skills in the kitchen and try new foods.
Forensics (7-12)Students will explore techniques for collecting and preserving crime scene investigation evidence and how these techniques have evolved over time. Students will also analyze these techniques to determine their advantages and limitations.
Leadership in Art 35Leadership in the Arts 35 allows students to purposefully reflect upon learning experiences in the Fine Arts disciplines as well as explore the possibilities of the process involved in preparing for the marketing and business aspect of being a professional artist
Leadership and Service (Junior High)Engage in a leadership and service program designed for junior high students, fostering essential skills like teamwork, communication, and community involvement, preparing young leaders to make a positive impact in their schools and neighborhoods. This course will also develop leadership skills and promote service to others through charity and good works.
Learning Strategies (7-12)The aim of the learning strategies program is to explore student learning styles and build academic self-confidence using their strengths as a learner. A variety of research-based strategies will be explored and applied to relevant courses in their schedule to allow increased opportunities for students to demonstrate understanding.
Legal Studies (10-12)Students in Legal Studies can expect to learn about specific laws, legal concepts, and both historical and contemporary legal issues pertaining to specific areas of law. Some area's that may be explored include:  Public Law. Private Law, Employment Law, Family Law, Relationship Law, Aboriginal Law, Environmental Law, Law & The Travel, Property Law, and Small Business Law.
Military History (10-12)In Military Studies 15-25-35 students will inquire into, explore, assess, and evaluate the origins of the military. Throughout Military Studies 15-25-35 students will grapple critically with real world problems/conflicts, assess and evaluate military solutions and in the process hone their communication, leadership and decision-making capabilities as informed, responsible and competent Canadians in an increasingly conflict fraught and complex global context.
New Media (7-12)This course combines a love of art with the new digital age. Throughout their learning experiences over multiple years, students will learn to use 2-d and 3-d media, animation, visual communication, banner/poster making, and so much more.
Outdoor Education (10-12)This course is designed to inspire a passion for the outdoors and to give our students the opportunity and confidence to experience it firsthand. Wildlife may be the springboard needed to create a lifelong desire to enjoy the wilderness and become the next generation of environmental stewards.
Outdoor Education (7-9)Creating a passion for outdoor experiences, students will learn about adventures and experiences as well as survival skills, compass work, animal and plant identification.
Photography (7-12)This course aims to provide students with an understanding of the fundamentals of photographic composition, editing, and DSLR camera use. Students will participate in a variety of projects to apply and develop their skills.
Psychology (10-12)The aim of this course is to provide students with a general background in psychology including the history of psychology and the principles of learning and thinking. Students will learn about stress and aggression, the influence of small groups, the status of roles, and some insights regarding neurosis and psychosis.
Robotics (7-9)This course introduces students to robotics as a foundation to explore student interest in technology and evaluate how technology affects the quality of life. Students will engage in tasks involving collaborating, discussing ideas with others, planning and programming to build a robot in order to achieve objectives.
Sport in Society (10-12)Students explore the structure and function of community, amateur and professional sports organizations. The impact of sports organizations and events on society is also examined. They also explore the Long-Term Athlete Development model and related principles of athletic skill development. Finally, students learn basic skills and developmental principles for teaching recreation activities, foundational movement concepts and coaching principles to children and youth.
Sports Medicine (10-12)Sports Medicine provides opportunities for students to explore the world of Kinesiology. Students are exposed to topics of study that include; health services, anatomy & physiology, human movement & injury management. It is a logical introduction for students interested in post-secondary educational careers such as physical education, massage therapy, nursing, medicine, physiotherapy, athletic therapy, athletic training, and other health-related fields of study.
STEM/STEAM  (Junior High)STEM/STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering,(Arts)  and Mathematics. These fields focus on understanding the world through research, building new technologies, designing innovative solutions, and solving complex problems. STEM education encourages critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills, preparing students for diverse and high-demand careers in today's technology-driven world. It's about exploring, and discovering.
Synthetic Biology (10-12)This course aims to provide students with an introduction to the world of synthetic biology using genetically engineered bacteria. Students will learn concepts and then apply them to design their own systems to solve local problems.
Yoga (10-12)High School Yoga incorporates yoga postures, gentle movement sequences, breath work, supported silent meditation, and guided relaxation to support increased awareness and mindfulness of the breath and body! Wellness, both physical and mental will not only support students in their daily lives but their academics as well!
